A downloadable project for Windows and Android

Slug Swat is a solo project developed to refresh my familiarity with Unity and to use my sparse free hours to experiment with a very limited drawing mechanic. I outlined a minimum viable product for Android and PC, set myself a completion deadline, and got swatting – sorry for the weak humour.

The project was completed within its allotted timeframe, although I left myself no time to iterate on the sounds and design of each level. The completed project uses what were intended to be placeholder sound effects because I prioritised further gameplay and level testing in the final days of development. Each level spawned new enemies and/or strengthened existing ones, with no enemy slug being removed from any level. Level testing was conducted to ensure gameplay did not feel repetitive despite the same enemies being encountered, although the results of these tests were not actioned because I poorly prioritised my tasks toward the end of development.

Additionally, I had hoped to combine the core drawing mechanic with impactful audio and visual effects to simulate the feeling of swatting an enemy. I ran out of time to polish this mechanic which resulted in the current play experience of blocking enemy paths.

Despite being unable to highlight the core mechanic as intended, my understanding of and familiarity with Unity has grown because of this project and I greatly enjoyed my time working on it. I call that a win!
